Electeds, ATU 1056 Remind Community They Got Their Bus Service Back

Queens Elected officials, including State Senator Tony Avella, Members of the Assembly Barbara Clark, David Weprin, Ron Kim and Nily Rozic, and Council Members Leroy Comrie, Mark Weprin and Ruben Wills, joined Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1056 today (Friday, January 4, 2013) to remind the public that bus service restorations announced by the MTA last summer get fully implemented next week. At the Q27 Springfield Boulevard bus stop off the LIRR in Queens Village (west side Springfield Boulevard between 97th and Jamaica Avenues), ATU 1056 President and Business Agent I. Daneek Miller, concerned legislators, Community Board 13Q Chair Bryan Block and Transportation Alternatives' Juan Martinez urged Queens residents to take advantage of restored service starting Sunday on the the Q24, Q27 and Q36 (extension of route to restore the former Q79) bus routes and starting Monday on the Q30 and Q42. Miller noted restored service started on the Q76 this past October. ATU 1056 members ? bus operators and mechanics ? work for MTA New York City Transit's Queens bus division and serve the riding public.
